Privacy Policy

1. Who we are#

EonBox is operated by EonBox Private Limited, a company registered in India, based in Hyderabad ("EonBox", "we", "us"). Contact: contact@eonbox.in.

2. What we collect#

• Account details: your name, email address and profile picture from the sign-in method you use.
• Your content: chats, files you upload, notes, drawings, artifacts, mock exam attempts and results, the Bookshelf works you open and star, what you write in About you, and the memory EonBox keeps from your chats.
• Technical data: device and browser type, IP address, and logs of how the service is used, to keep it secure and working.
• We do not collect payment details. Paid plans are not yet available.

3. Why we use it#

• To provide EonBox: answering your questions, searching your files when you ask, saving your work, running your mock exams.
• To keep EonBox secure and prevent misuse, including enforcing our Acceptable Use Policy.
• To fix problems and improve the service.
• To communicate with you about your account and changes to these policies.
• To meet legal obligations.

4. How AI processing works#

When you chat, your message, the conversation so far, the files you attach and the relevant parts of your other files are sent to our AI provider to produce an answer. To search your files, we turn them into numeric representations (embeddings) using an embeddings provider, and a reranking provider scores the passages found against your question. Text in images and scanned PDFs you upload is read by an AI vision provider, voice dictation is turned into text by a speech provider, and Word and PowerPoint files are converted by our document converter. If you generate images, your prompt is sent to our image provider.

5. Who we share data with#

• Service providers who host, store and process data for us, listed on the Sub-processors page. They act on our instructions.
• When you search the Bookshelf, your search words are sent to the public catalogues OpenAlex and PubMed to find works.
• When you open an artifact, it loads code and fonts from public libraries (unpkg, Tailwind CSS, SheetJS and Google Fonts), which see your IP address and browser, not your content.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.
• We never sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

6. Where your data is processed#

Your data is stored and processed outside India, including in Australia, Singapore and the United States, by the providers listed on the Sub-processors page.

7. How long we keep it#

• We keep your content until you delete it or delete your account.
• When you delete a chat, note, drawing, folder or file in the app, it is deleted from our database straight away, not hidden, and its stored files are removed from storage within a week. Some records stay after a chat is deleted: your mock exam attempts and scores, usage records, files you attached to that chat, and what EonBox remembered from it.
• Our AI providers keep copies of requests for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, then delete them: generally up to 30 days, and up to 55 days for Google. Content flagged for serious policy violations can be kept longer under the provider's own rules. Files you attach to a chat are kept in our AI provider's file storage so they can be read again, and we do not delete them there yet.
• We keep records we are legally required to keep for as long as the law requires.

8. Your rights#

You can access, correct and erase your personal data, and raise a grievance. You can delete individual chats, notes, drawings, folders and files in the app at any time. To export everything or delete your account, write to contact@eonbox.in from your account email. We complete requests within 30 days.

9. Students under 18#

EonBox is built for students. If you are under 18, please use EonBox with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Security#

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We test our systems for security weaknesses.

11. Cookies and local storage#

The EonBox website does not use cookies or analytics. The EonBox app uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings, the chat you had open and messages you have not sent yet.

12. Changes#

We will post updates here and tell you in the app before material changes take effect.

13. Grievance Officer#
